St. Mary’s School is a small, family-oriented school that is fueled by faith. We have a schoolhouse culture : multi-grade level classrooms where all the teachers and students in our one-hallway building know one another by name. We are committed to fostering a rigorous academic environment while simultaneously nurturing a strong moral compass. There are opportunities throughout the whole year for our families to grow and thrive together : field trips, service opportunities, volunteerism, fundraisers, and holiday programs/events.
Our school is accredited by the National Catholic Education Association and Michigan Nonpublic School Accrediting Association. Our Kindergarten through 6th grade students take the NWEA standardized test three times per year. The data collected from this testing is used to inform instruction. Our students also have access to a software program called IXL which interprets NWEA results. IXL uses the NWEA data to pinpoint areas of need and provide a tailor-made program for each student. We are also a licensed Child Care Center in the State of Michigan.
Our Test Scores are Soaring! From Fall 2025 to Winter 2026, 55% of St. Mary's students met or exceeded NWEA math growth expectation and 70% of our students met or exceeded NWEA reading growth expectation! Great job, St. Mary's Students and teachers!
A Day in the Life of an Elementary Student at St. Mary's
Our school day starts at 8:00am, but parents may drop off as early as 7:30am. The gradeschool has school announcements and prayer every morning at 7:50am. Students walk to class and begin their academic day at 8:00am. The gradeschool gets a 'special' class every day. Specials classes are taught by separate staff, most of who have been here for many years. Specials classes include : Spanish, Art, Music and Movement, Physical Education, and Technology. Packed lunches are eaten in our gymnasium before the students get a daily recess. A morning snack and a lunch are packed and brought from home each day. Our school day ends at 3pm. If desired, a student can join After School Club, which is an after-care service that runs until 5pm.
